About the role
- Own the scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency of cloud-based infrastructure
- Build and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting systems and lead incident response
- Participate in on-call rotations and drive blameless postmortems to improve MTTR
- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and rollback procedures
- Implement automated testing strategy, quality gates, and security scans within CI/CD
- Apply and enforce security best practices in infrastructure, IAM, and deployments
- Support SOC2 and HIPAA compliance efforts
- Partner with product engineering, data, and hardware teams and improve engineer onboarding
- Lead and mentor a small platform engineering team (2–4 engineers) and consolidate platform responsibilities
Requirements
- 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform/Infrastructure roles
- Leadership experience mentoring or guiding a small team
- Hands-on with AWS (Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudFront, S3, RDS, etc.)
- Strong experience with serverless architectures
- Proven track record building and refining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins)
- Skilled with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Strong experience with monitoring/telemetry tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, New Relic, Sentry)
- Familiarity with integrating tests, static analysis, and quality gates into CI/CD
- Experience scaling infrastructure, troubleshooting production workloads, and optimizing cost/performance
- Experience with backups and disaster recovery procedures
- Familiarity with IoT platforms (AWS IoT Core), embedded Linux, and media/streaming pipelines (gStreamer)
- Experience with OTA update frameworks (Mender, Yocto) is a plus
- Experience or familiarity with SOC2 and HIPAA compliance is a plus
