About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a trusted advisor and client service professional on payroll compliance and payroll solutions
  • Troubleshoot payroll situations, educate clients, and develop stakeholder partnerships
  • Develop, coach, and mentor payroll team members
  • Identify, develop, recommend, and implement payroll process improvements
  • Facilitate change in a matrix environment
  • Execute client relationship strategies for Workday payroll clients across multiple states/localities
  • Collaborate with Payroll Project Managers, Senior HCM Analysts, and internal Workday technology groups on client-specific enhancements
  • Onboard and maintain assigned clients on payroll and related services
  • Assess payroll needs and recommend service solutions based on market and industry trends
  • Serve as quality analyst/control for payroll processing procedures, including balancing audits and identifying efficiencies
  • Review the financial health of the assigned Book of Business related to Co-Employment relationships
  • Serve as subject matter expert on federal, state, and local payroll administration laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Support process and audit efforts for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Analyze client payroll data, input and balance payroll data, process payroll, and review and distribute payroll reports
  • Mentor and support Service Operations Workday personnel as a subject matter expert and knowledge resource
  • Contribute to Book of Business meetings with internal business partners
  • Travel to client worksites for meetings, training, recommendations, and client support
  • Support client satisfaction through quality service checks and supervisor service observations
  • Participate in testing new payroll processes and enhancements
  • Participate in client meetings by phone and in person when necessary

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Three to five years of progressive payroll or relevant business experience is required
  • Strong proficiency and experience in payroll administration and practices
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Expertise in collaborating with multiple functional experts
  • Ability to effectively interact with multiple internal and external business units
  • Strong time management, organizational, and facilitation skills
  • Experience managing multiple tasks/activities efficiently and timely
  • Understanding of HR disciplines including payroll, benefits, taxation, accounting, employment documentation, employment, and general HR practices
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
  • Competent presentation skills design and delivery
  • Demonstrated customer service skills in a team environment
  • Project management skills and experience handling multiple projects
  • Knowledge of general business principles, practices, procedures, office methods, equipment, clerical methods, filing systems
