About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess metering systems, accuracy classes and compliance with UK billing regulations
  • Carry out LoRaWAN signal surveys, validate connectivity and produce coverage heatmaps
  • Review HIU layouts, riser structures and plant rooms to define metering solutions
  • Support installation teams with technical briefs, diagrams and commissioning checks
  • Select heat meters, gateways and controllers meeting compliance and integration standards
  • Validate live systems, monitor meter health and support remediation actions
  • Represent Insite during site visits, consultations and technical discussions
  • Support compliant and efficient delivery of metering systems across communal and district heat networks
  • Work across the full lifecycle of heat network metering, from early scoping and technical surveys through installation oversight, compliance assurance and ongoing system optimisation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering degree (BEng/BSc) or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical or building services
  • Ability to produce clear technical reports and documentation
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing situations
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Understanding of heat network regulations, Ofgem requirements or HNTAS (desirable)
  • Familiarity with LoRaWAN, M-Bus, or smart metering systems (desirable)
  • Experience with technical audits, CAD outputs or wireless diagnostics (desirable)
  • Knowledge of heat meter types and configurations (desirable)
