Heat Network Compliance Engineer – HNTAS
Insite EnergyHeat Network Compliance Engineer supporting metering systems for communal and district heat networks. Collaborating with installation teams and conducting technical audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supporting the compliant and efficient delivery of metering systems across communal and district heat networks.
- Conducting technical audits and assessing metering systems, accuracy classes and compliance with UK billing regulations.
- Carrying out LoRaWAN signal surveys, validating connectivity and producing coverage heatmaps.
- Reviewing HIU layouts, riser structures and plant rooms to define metering solutions.
- Supporting installation teams with technical briefs, diagrams and commissioning checks.
- Selecting heat meters, gateways and controllers that meet compliance and integration standards.
- Validating live systems, monitoring meter health and supporting remediation actions.
- Representing Insite during site visits, consultations and technical discussions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Engineering degree (BEng/BSc) or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical or building services.
- Ability to produce clear technical reports and documentation.
- Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Understanding of heat network regulations, Ofgem requirements or HNTAS (desirable).
- Familiarity with LoRaWAN, M-Bus, or smart metering systems (desirable).
- Experience with technical audits, CAD outputs or wireless diagnostics (desirable).
