About the role
- Manage and maintain multiple database servers across various environments using MongoDB Atlas and Ops Manager, ensuring consistent availability and performance
- Design and implement redundancy and failover strategies
- Monitor database performance, apply tuning, and identify areas for improvement
- Configure and maintain replica sets and sharded clusters to support scalability and resilience
- Define and implement backup strategies in accordance with data retention requirements
- Optimize queries and indexing strategies
- Enforce best practices for data security, including user access control, data encryption, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Diagnose and resolve production issues as needed, including 24x7 support
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Develop and document best practices for maintenance, monitoring, migration, and failover strategies
- Use automation tools to streamline database management processes
Requirements
- Strong experience working with large distributed database systems with a focus on performance and tuning
- Proven experience with MongoDB scaling across data centers and/or in-depth understanding of MongoDB high-availability strategies, including replica sets and sharding
- Strong operational experience with NoSQL data modeling
- Deep knowledge of database performance and scaling concepts and tuning best practices
- Ability to write and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts is considered an advantage
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Highly self-motivated with a desire to adopt new database technologies and able to work independently or as part of a team in a high-demand, dynamic environment
- Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment with a broad scope of responsibilities
