About the role
- Develop and maintain the data transformation layer using DBT as the primary tool
- Design and implement data models in the data warehouse following best practices
- Build scalable and reusable transformation pipelines in DBT
- Implement and ensure adherence to GitFlow in DBT development processes
- Extensively document models, transformations, and business logic
- Provide technical support to the data analytics team, facilitating the transition to modern data engineering practices
- Establish data quality standards and automated tests within DBT
- Optimize query and transformation performance in the warehouse
- Train data analysts in versioning practices and DBT
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for all processes
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong experience with DBT (Data Build Tool): incremental modeling and materializations
- Experience with macros and custom tests
- Data documentation and lineage
- Job orchestration
- Proficiency with Git and GitFlow: branching strategies
- Pull requests and code review
- Conflict resolution
- CI/CD pipelines
- Advanced SQL skills and query optimization
- Knowledge of Python for automation and data scripting
- Experience with modern Data Warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks)
- Ability to work with dimensional modeling concepts
- Ability to produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation
