Insight Investment is looking for an Architect to join the Architecture team in Manchester. The role is hands-on across a variety of our key initiatives: AKS, GitHub Enterprise, data platforms, and distributed architectures.
The purpose of the role is to bolster the Development and Technology Change departments, identifying opportunities to add value and make our technical delivery more sustainable in service to our core business. This can range from traditional architectural support with the teams, onboarding new functionality across our various platforms, evangelising new approaches, or doing detailed analysis or development work to solve challenging problems.
Although the work varies and we cannot promise working on something specific, we always focus on delivering or enabling high-impact, high-value work for Insight.
Role Responsibilities
Take ownership for driving change and innovation, either working behind the scenes or directly with the teams
Guide the creation of and be involved in our architectural governance and review function, to help the teams make the right decisions and support change in the future
Be a spokesperson for our technology brand and engineering practices, both internally to evangelise and energise our teams and externally to attract talent
Remain active, cutting code with the teams either where this is value-add or additional help is required
Experience Required
Expert C# and .NET knowledge.
Ability to collaborate with end users, stakeholders, and team members
Demonstrate initiative and independence to run work and deliver value
Stand by software engineering principles around quality and doing things the right way
Have a constant desire to improve knowledge and drive adoption of new tech or approaches within the team
Own mistakes and work with your colleagues to redress them, learn from them and make improvements for the long-term
Be able to communicate abstract or complex ideas or solutions effectively
Previous experience with build and deployment systems and methodologies
Previous experience with containers and container orchestration technology
