About the role

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and related documents to determine scope and requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives to develop competitive bids and proposals.
  • Assist the sales team by providing high level cost pricing guidance.
  • Analyze historical data and market trends to improve accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability information.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and client expectations.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases and tools.
  • Track proposal win/loss data and analyze patterns to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and client consultations as needed.
  • Provide timely revisions and updates to estimates based on project changes or client feedback.
  • Additional responsibilities to consider:
  • Lead site visits to capture project dimensions and environmental conditions.
  • Serve as a bridge between sales and operations to validate job feasibility, equipment availability, and scheduling.
  • Support margin improvement initiatives by identifying cost-saving opportunities in logistics, labor, and materials.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1-2 years of estimating experience in construction or event industry required.
  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks and manage those tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, specifications, and drawings.
  • Preferred Skills: Knowledge of event industry or rental industry.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP systems, HubSpot and D365 experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with a focus on profitability and project feasibility.
  • Confident representing the company on job sites and in client meetings with sales.
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex operational details into client-friendly language.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
