About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • You’ll be responsible for managing the security team across the entire site; this includes all HR functions, such as annual leave planning, appraisals, welfare matters, internal investigations, recruitment, rota scheduling, payroll costs in line with annual budget, ensure that all security staff are trained and validated to company standards set out
  • Work in collaboration with the operational teams and have a good understanding of local processes, and procedures such as parcel movement across the network, lost property procedure, damages, the sealing of trailers process, robust access controls, fuel management, asset protection, etc and advise on ways to improve current practices to reduce loss for our business
  • You’ll ensure that the security team report incidents in a timely manner, lead loss reduction strategies within the Hub, identify risk, threats to the business old or new and escalate to management, senior team and support the implementation of corrective action plans
  • Lead change and security awareness strategies of all activities in the warehouse, yard and carpark areas by conducting risk assessments, drive compliance on company policy. You’ll work closely with the Operations Managers and Supervisors daily to resolve problems quickly and ensure smooth day-to-day security operations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous experience in a security loss prevention environment is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and make quick decisions, remain calm under pressure
  • Experience in undertaking investigations, including the interview of witnesses and persons under investigation
  • Ability to be discreet and manage confidential information
  • The ability to obtain detailed witness statements and to collate broader evidence
  • Basic knowledge of criminal law
  • Flexible to the needs of the position and company
  • Good time management and administration skills
  • Proven people management experience
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, build capability both within operations and security team to identify all routes to loss, lead the security team with a one team approach by liaising and building strong relationships with colleagues across departments
  • Basic IT skills, i.e. email, MS Excel and ability to learn internal IT systems, CCTV
  • Accurate with strong attention to detail
