About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and lead regulatory strategy and positioning while ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies like the Ontario Energy Board.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to develop strategies that align operational practices with regulatory requirements.
  • Advocate and influence regulatory bodies (e.g., OEB) to support organizational positions.
  • Ensure organization adheres to provincial and federal regulations.
  • Develop and update internal policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Oversee regulatory financial accounts and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage responses to compliance breaches or regulatory inquiries, including investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver regulatory reports, presentations, and recommendations to the executive team.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University Degree in Business Administration/Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation (CMA, CA, CGA, CPA) or equivalent is desired.
  • Strong proficiency in financial systems, ERP platforms, and advanced financial reporting tools.
  • Minimum of five years of senior regulatory management experience.
  • Financial Analysis Skills: Proficiency in analyzing financial data to support regulatory filings, including Cost of Service (COS) and Incentive Rate-Setting Mechanism (IRM) applications.
  • Experience in budgeting processes and financial forecasting related to regulatory impacts.
