About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, test, and move database products to production in a cloud environment
  • Design and create complex data models
  • Develop and implement data products supporting business needs
  • Analyze informational needs, data relationships, attributes, data flow, storage requirements, and reporting capabilities
  • Define logical attributes and inter-relationships and design data structures
  • Test applications using database management or general programming software
  • Gather system metrics to identify and resolve problems
  • Develop performance enhancements with measurable benchmarks
  • Monitor data products with DBA and Production Services staff
  • Own database design/modeling through all project stages
  • Prepare technical designs reflecting business requirements and IT strategy/architecture
  • Evaluate new technologies and develop proposals for new IT services, pilots, and production applications
  • Work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment
  • Mentor junior Database Engineers
  • Act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower-level employees without full supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of Data Management experience proposing and documenting technology solutions, with database architecture and data integration focus
  • 8+ years of hands-on developer experience working with data, advanced engineering principles, and analytics development
  • Fluent in SQL
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying data warehouses or relational, analytical, or multidimensional data marts
  • Familiarity with Virtual Data Warehousing or Snowflake DWaaS
  • Relational Database Management Systems and expert SQL skills
  • Extract/Load/Transform (ELT) development skills
  • Experience building data pipelines on Azure following cloud deployment best practices
  • Experience with cloud migrations is desirable
  • Ability to debug complex data issues in very large datasets with billions of records
  • Ability to work with business and technical audiences in requirements meetings, technical whiteboarding, and SQL coding/debugging sessions
  • Ability to pursue assignments and requests to logical, final solutions
  • Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or work-related experience in lieu of degree
