About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate monthly payroll input data with the external payroll vendor, including hires, terminations, transfers, leave, overtime, salary adjustments, allowances, and other compensation changes
  • Review and validate payroll results, payment files, payroll reports, tax and social insurance data, and supporting documents
  • Verify net payment amounts and complete internal payroll posting approval procedures
  • Support payroll inquiries and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings, social insurance administration, and statutory reporting in Korea
  • Prepare payment requests and supporting vouchers for payroll tax and insurance payments with Accounting and GBS teams
  • Maintain payroll compliance documentation and support audits
  • Review payroll accruals, including incentives, annual leave, severance, and collective bargaining-related bonus provisions
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, employee transfers, leave of absence, and other employee lifecycle processes
  • Maintain employee records, HR documentation, personnel data, and HR system records
  • Manage attendance, overtime, annual leave, long-term sick leave, and other leave administration
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, attendance, payroll, labor regulations, and workplace practices
  • Support employment rule reporting, legally required training, remote work administration, employee relations, and labor-management practices
  • Coordinate welfare fund reporting, policies, applications, governance documentation, and operational administration
  • Support Labor-Management Council and welfare fund meetings, member administration, meeting coordination, and minutes management
  • Monitor Korean labor, payroll, social insurance, and tax regulations and identify compliance risks
  • Support process improvements for HR operations, payroll workflows, and HR systems
  • Coordinate with headquarters and internal stakeholders on HR reporting and operational matters

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or above; related majors preferred
  • More than 2 years of working experience in human resources and compensation in South Korea
  • At least two years of experience in local payroll accounting and as a human resources specialist in South Korea
  • Familiarity with South Korea's four major insurance schemes and individual income tax declaration procedures
  • Proven experience independently completing the entire payroll accounting and tax declaration process
  • Korean language proficiency
  • Basic English reading and writing skills; ability to handle English work emails and overseas office systems
  • Basic knowledge of Chinese is preferred
  • Proficiency in South Korea's Labor Standards Act, four major insurance declaration and payment rules, personal income tax, and local taxes
  • Familiarity with South Korea's employment compliance requirements
  • Proficiency with Excel functions and PivotTables
  • Ability to independently prepare payroll ledgers and HR reports
  • Experience operating HR personnel systems and South Korean tax declaration systems
  • Basic financial knowledge and familiarity with payroll calculation logic
  • Ability to troubleshoot payroll and tax data abnormalities accurately
  • Strict confidentiality regarding employee salaries, personnel privacy, and confidential HR data
  • Meticulous, rigorous, organized, numerically sensitive, and able to handle monthly payroll peak periods
  • Ability to liaise with government agencies, employees, and headquarters departments
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and service awareness
