About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare for and participate in meetings of the Board of Directors and its committees, including the preparation of preliminary agendas, executive summaries, supporting documents, and minutes
- Follow up on decisions and actions resulting from Board and committee meetings
- Provide legal advice and support regarding corporate law, governance, and privacy
- Participate in corporate reorganization projects and ensure that relevant information is communicated to the parties involved
- Ensure the development, updating, and maintenance of the Code of Conduct and related policies
- Cooperate in investigations related to complaints received under the Code of Conduct or other corporate policies
- Advise the organization on best practices in governance and monitor new market trends and requirements
- Draft and update corporate regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures
- Serve as secretary of the Board at the annual meetings of affiliated companies
- Participate in compliance initiatives related to the protection of personal information and the French language
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Law
- Member of the Quebec Bar or the bar association of another Canadian province
- At least 7 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, in-house, or in a combination of both settings
- Professional Skills:
- Excellent ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
- High level of independence and excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail and professional rigor
- High integrity and ethical standards
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships with partners and stakeholders
- Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically
- Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and successfully bring projects to completion
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Bilingualism (French and English, both spoken and written) is required to facilitate ongoing collaboration with various stakeholders outside Quebec.
