About the role
- Support the implementation and day-to-day execution of Inmar’s Data Governance program
- Assist in building and maintaining automated, repeatable processes that implement data governance policies and standards
- Support enforcement of required metadata, tagging, and ownership standards across cloud and on-prem data environments
- Help embed governance controls into pipelines and platforms rather than relying on manual or ad hoc processes
- Publish and maintain datasets in the enterprise metadata catalog, ensuring required fields such as owner, description, classification, and lineage are captured
- Participate in metadata audits and help track adoption and compliance metrics
- Help run and validate sensitive data scans (e.g., PII, PHI, PCI) using approved tools and scripts
- Apply and verify data classification and asset tagging standards in alignment with enterprise policies
- Support audits and reporting related to data access, ownership, and least-privilege enforcement
- Assist with tagging and ownership initiatives that enable cloud cost visibility and accountability
- Help maintain dashboards and reports that surface governance KPIs for technical and business stakeholders
- Follow established Data Governance team standards for communication, documentation, code reviews, releases, and handoffs
- Participate in daily standups, Jira updates, PR reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities
- Work closely with Data Governance, Data Quality, Privacy, Security, and Data Engineering partners.
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience (1-3 years)
- Experience with Python or another scripting language
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience querying large datasets
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and workflow management tools (Airflow, dbt, etc)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS preferred; Azure acceptable)
- Understanding of core data governance concepts (metadata, quality, classification, access, lineage)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred / Nice to Have Exposure to data governance, metadata, or cataloging tools (e.g., Dataplex, Data Catalog, DLP, BigID)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Exposure to NoSQL databases
- Experience with structured and semi-structured data formats (e.g., JSON, Parquet, Avro)
- Familiarity with Git/Github, and CI/CD concepts
- Experience with troubleshooting, performance tuning, or optimization
- Interest in data privacy, compliance, and secure data handling practices.
