About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and safely commission power generation engineered projects
  • Prepare commissioning procedures and provide engineering technical services and application support for power generation products
  • Perform pre-commissioning through final commissioning of diesel generator systems
  • Execute cold and hot testing, including load bank, black start, closed transition, ATS, and switchboard sequence testing
  • Validate integration with datacentre electrical distribution, UPS systems, BMS/SCADA/PLC controls, and synchronisation and power management systems
  • Validate runtime, fault response, load-handling capability, and utility failure and recovery performance
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, fuel, and control system issues
  • Fine-tune governor, AVR, and control panel parameters
  • Validate exhaust, cooling, and ventilation systems
  • Produce commissioning procedures, test scripts, as-built documentation, and handover packs
  • Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3010, ISO 8528, local EPA requirements, and datacentre safety policies
  • Liaise with OEMs and coordinate with contractors, consultants, project managers, suppliers, customers, and datacentre operators
  • Provide operator training and post-handover technical support
  • Report weekly on project cost, payment milestones, delivery, and technical issues
  • Inspect, evaluate, and test engineering project equipment, materials, and completed works
  • Participate in ISO 9001 audits and process improvement activities
  • Map and update engineering processes in Promapp
  • Maintain accurate weekly timesheets and Pronto job records
  • Complete assigned training and operate within company policies and expenditure authority limits

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background, preferably with electrical knowledge
  • Experience with mission-critical power systems, preferably datacentres
  • Understanding of UPS-generator interaction and harmonic considerations
  • Ability to interpret schematics, single-line diagrams, control logic, and OEM manuals
  • Strong diagnostic skills for control systems and mechanical systems
  • High safety awareness in high-energy, live environments
  • Open to site travel within CBD or remote areas
  • ‘C’ class driver’s license
  • Ability to comply with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3010, ISO 8528, local EPA requirements, Australian standards, ISO 9001, CAPS Promapp processes, company policies, and authority limits
  • Ability to complete assigned training requirements
  • Safety-first, results-oriented, commercially aware, analytical, and continuous-improvement behaviours
