About the role

  • Through thorough analysis and careful design, you will develop an architecture concept for Explainable AI within a modern, distributed data platform — including requirements for streaming, logging, storage, and AI interpretability.
  • You will incorporate an archival solution into your design and build a prototype that compresses and stores model outputs, explainability data, and associated metadata in a reproducible, long-term manner.
  • Your objective is to sustainably integrate Explainable AI components into our data platform. To do this, you will evaluate suitable XAI frameworks and integrate them into the architecture (e.g., SHAP, LIME, ELI5, Captum).
  • Scalability, traceability, and compliance-readiness complete your scope of work.
  • Within these guidelines, you will document the architecture, implement tests, and evaluate your solution.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a master's program in (business) computer science, data science, software engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Python (e.g., for ML, data pipelines, and XAI frameworks)
  • Cloud and deployment knowledge with initial experience in GCP, Azure Pipelines, or comparable cloud ecosystems; experience with Terraform is desirable
  • Enthusiasm for Explainable AI, data engineering, streaming architectures, logging infrastructures, and modern cloud stacks
  • Ideally, some prior exposure to Explainable AI (e.g., SHAP, LIME)
  • Motivation to help shape the world of tomorrow
  • German and English, both written and spoken
