About the role
- Develop robust, scalable solutions related to Indica Labs’ products;
- Work closely with internal teams to advance new and existing models;
- Monitor the latest advances in AI and digital pathology and evaluate opportunities for improvements.
- Participate in the research and development of computational tools related to Indica Labs’ HALO AI platform.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of AI-related research projects.
- Develop computational methods for the classification, segmentation, stratification, or characterization of features of interest in multimodal datasets.
- Lead research efforts in a team setting of scientists and software engineers.
- Interface with internal and external collaborators in project development and execution.
- Maintain an awareness of emerging research trends in the fields of image analysis, deep learning, computer vision, etc. which inform product development.
- Provide mentoring and guidance as needed and ensures members of the teams have the necessary resources to complete their projects.
- Interface with team members to aid the migration of research projects into other products.
- Responsible for the appropriate accessing and handling of electronic Protected Health Information (PHI) as outlined by policy and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Requirements
- Graduate degree (PhD/Masters or international equivalent) in quantitative discipline, e.g. computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, physics, statistics, or mathematics.
- Three (3) years of relevant (industry) work experience, especially related to AI software development in the field of digital pathology.
- Authorization to work in the United States, or appropriate authorization to work in the applicant’s current home country (Indica Labs, Inc. does not sponsor work visas)
- Strong publication record within digital pathology, microscopy, or image analysis, with an emphasis on AI applications.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience, especially related to AI software development in the field of pathology
- Preference given to applicants currently residing in New Mexico.
- Expertise in one or more machine learning frameworks, e.g. pytorch, mxnet, tensorflow, JAX.
- Expertise in best practices for scientific reproducibility and version control.
- Experience working with large-scale imaging datasets containing hundreds or thousands of whole slide images and associated clinical metadata.
- Experience with DevOps and MLOps.
- Proficiencies in object-oriented programming languages, e.g. Python, C#, C++, and data analysis libraries.
- Intellectual curiosity and domain knowledge which drives interesting and tractable research questions.
- Ability to deliver presentations on complex research topics to diverse, interdisciplinary scientific audiences.
- Demonstrated ability of working in highly collaborative environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse, global community.
