About the role

  • Oversee the installation, operation, and inspection of hybrid systems across all entries.
  • Review hybrid data and ensure compliance with the INDYCAR Rules and Regulations as they relate to Teams and Engine Manufacturers.
  • Maintain reliability, fairness, and consistency in hybrid system use.
  • Support the Managing Director of Engine Development in the technical governance and performance oversight of hybrid components.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and ongoing development of the Engine Control Unit (ECU) software and systems as they pertain to hybrid control, monitoring, and data acquisition.
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate hybrid data from the Engine Manufacturers and race teams.
  • Provide data and statistical support for issues that might arise such as system degradation, faults, and Rules violation concerns.
  • Monitor hybrid performance across participants and maintain the balance of competition through the enforcement of NTT INDYCAR SERIES rules and regulations and ECU control software maintenance and development.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
  • Assist hybrid contractor with logistics & tracking of all Hybrid units.
  • Perform technical inspection of hybrid units during event days and isolated trips to the hybrid contractor.
  • Chair weekly hybrid meeting with manufacturers and Hybrid contractor.
  • Support the race teams with the installation of hybrid units and some minor system repairs.
  • Establish relationships with team personnel to help identity and track any team related hybrid issues.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering graduate, with a good appreciation of the other discipline.
  • Experience with Pi Toolbox, ATLAS or similar data analysis tools and software is a benefit.
  • Competency with major computer software applications such as Microsoft products – Excel, Word, Visual Basic.
  • High level understanding of electronics, including sensors and wiring of vehicle control units.
  • 1 or more years of professional experience.
  • Must have a professional attitude, demeanor, and ability to relate to coworkers.
  • Strong attention to detail and thorough in accomplishing all tasks with concern for all areas involved, no matter how small.
  • Able to adapt quickly according to the environment and the often-changing demands of the job.
  • Must be able to interact with many people internally and externally, effectively communicate with coworkers, and be a company representative on a daily basis.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and motivated to do or achieve something because of one's own enthusiasm or interest, without needing pressure from others.
  • Ability to prepare checklists, manage administrative paperwork and files, keep thorough and accurate records, database management, and design forms.
