About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support both the Actuarial Services and Underwriting departments.
  • Provide a full scope of actuarial and statistical analyses, on a project-specific basis.
  • Perform functions under the direct supervision of the Director of Actuarial Services & Underwriting.
  • Provide a full scope of underwriting risk analyses, for both renewal and new large group business.
  • Work with Finance to provide reports for various financial statement items.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, or related field.
  • Completion of Fundamentals of Health Insurance (part A) desired.
  • Experience in Underwriting or a related business field preferred.
  • Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries exam preferred.
  • Prior business experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative, as well as an ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access and other analytic or query tools preferred.
