As a Senior Backend Engineer (Java), you'll join us in a unique rotational capacity that offers broad platform exposure and accelerated career growth.
In this role, you'll directly contribute to features that make everyday life a little bit easier for families.
Working as part of product teams, you'll collaborate with product managers, designers, QA analysts, automation engineers, and other web and mobile engineers to solve meaningful problems for parents, children, and practitioners across our platforms.
You'll be building robust, scalable backend services and APIs that power our family coordination platforms, working with modern technologies including AI-powered features that directly impact millions of families.

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of Java development experience
Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
Experience in the Spring Framework and Spring Boot
Proven experience delivering software applications/features from inception to shipping within a cross-functional team environment
Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns
Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases and ORM technologies (Hibernate)
Experience with AI development tooling and integrations (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or similar AI-powered CLI's and IDE's)
Proficiency with AI-assisted development workflows including code generation, debugging assistance, automated testing, documentation creation, and architectural exploration
Ability to architect AI-integrated solutions and make informed decisions about how to leverage AI technologies in software development
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (great to have)
Experience with Atlassian products for CI/CD (Bitbucket Pipelines, Jira, Confluence) (great to have)
Experience with Confluent Cloud (Kafka) (great to have)
Experience with writing and maintaining tests (great to have)
Experience with iterative, agile based software delivery processes (great to have)
Experience working across multiple product teams or in rotational capacities (great to have)
Experience in family technology, legal technology, or complex platform environments (great to have)
Strong judgment in AI-assisted development - effectively leveraging AI tools to accelerate engineering across all domains while maintaining code ownership, quality standards, and using AI capabilities to enhance rather than replace engineering rigor.
