About the role
- Advising and supporting management on occupational safety, accident prevention, health protection, and environmental protection
- Conducting safety inspections
- Advising on projects and the redesign/new conception of workplaces
- Point of contact for occupational safety and environmental protection questions for managers and employees
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines related to occupational safety, health protection, and housekeeping/orderliness
- Regular walkthroughs of company areas to identify safety deficiencies and to record and eliminate identified defects in cooperation with management
- Preparing and updating risk assessments and work instructions related to occupational safety
- Investigating causes of workplace accidents and near-misses, recording and analyzing results, and proposing preventive measures
- Conducting company training on accident prevention, occupational safety, and health protection
- Collaborating with the company physician as well as other service providers and persons responsible for occupational, health and environmental protection matters
- Appointed person for plant/site safety and coordinator for external contractors
Requirements
- Completed higher technical education and/or an engineering degree or equivalent qualification
- Completed training as a Specialist in Occupational Safety (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit)
- Several years of professional experience in occupational safety/health management, preferably in a manufacturing company
- Sound knowledge of relevant legal regulations and guidelines
- Strong service orientation and social skills, as well as excellent communication skills and assertiveness
- Independent and structured working style with a strong solution orientation and a hands-on mentality
- Willingness to work shifts and on Saturdays
- Good Microsoft Office skills and practical experience with ERP systems (preferably abas)
- Very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken
