About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide essential case management support to new arrival individuals and families
- Help clients navigate community resources and advocate on their behalf with service providers
- Engage in outreach and community engagement to ensure communities have access to programs
- Provide pre-planning for new arrivals including connection to housing programs and initial paperwork
- Complete intake of clients, screen for eligibility, and complete all intake paperwork
- Support enrollment in necessary government programs (e.g., social security, TANF, SNAP, WIC, Medicaid)
- Meet with clients in their homes and community locations as needed
- Track participation and program metrics in relevant tracking and reporting documents
- Make referrals to both internal IRCO programs or external partners as needed
- Participate in case reviews with team members and complete all required closing documentation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fluency in English and a 2nd language commonly spoken by immigrants and refugees required. (Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Rohingya preferred)
- Must be able to pass extensive Background Check
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and verification of current auto-insurance and have full use of automobile during work hours
- Experience working with refugee and immigrant communities, particularly new arrivals
- Experience with case management and resource referral
- Experience working with individuals and families navigating daily tasks
- Ability to discuss sensitive topics (e.g. physical health, trauma, mental health, financial insecurity, food insecurity) with care and respect
- Experience communicating with individuals with various backgrounds, community focused alignments, community traditions, and income and opportunity status.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft programs and applications
- Strong communication skills in a multilingual, multi-background organization
- Strong ability to work with multi-background staff in a team setting
- Ability to function in a positive manner in a demanding work environment, to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, to respond to priorities and schedules that change frequently, and to meet commitments.
