About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the coding department including supervision of departmental caregivers, addressing coding issues/questions, overseeing QA audits, and identifying/participating in operational improvements
Navigate Epic EMR including applicable reports and work queues
Primary oversight of daily coding functions including monitoring of Epic Coding WQs, in-basket messages, inpatient note report, and timely charge entry to monitor departmental KPIs
Participate in the interview process and onboard and orient new caregivers
Monitor staffing levels, coder productivity, quality assurance audits, and adherence to departmental protocols
Provide day-to-day support for coders including monitoring schedules/flex time, reviewing/approving timecards, and ensuring adequate staffing levels

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent
CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician)
Demonstrated experience in professional fee coding, including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services
Minimum of two (2) years of professional fee coding experience, coding for assigned specific specialty services, prior supervisory experience, and previous Epic experience
