About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the coding department including supervision of departmental caregivers, addressing coding issues/questions, overseeing QA audits, and identifying/participating in operational improvements
- Navigate Epic EMR including applicable reports and work queues
- Primary oversight of daily coding functions including monitoring of Epic Coding WQs, in-basket messages, inpatient note report, and timely charge entry to monitor departmental KPIs
- Participate in the interview process and onboard and orient new caregivers
- Monitor staffing levels, coder productivity, quality assurance audits, and adherence to departmental protocols
- Provide day-to-day support for coders including monitoring schedules/flex time, reviewing/approving timecards, and ensuring adequate staffing levels
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician)
- Demonstrated experience in professional fee coding, including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional fee coding experience, coding for assigned specific specialty services, prior supervisory experience, and previous Epic experience
