About the role
- Lead design efforts for civil site design projects, including municipal, commercial, residential, and industrial developments, using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.
- Complete and oversee permit applications for various water and wastewater projects in coordination with the team, client, and reviewing jurisdiction.
- Perform modeling, water distribution systems, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design using engineering software.
- Oversee projects through design, bidding, and construction administration phases.
- Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships.
- Support project execution as part of a team, leading planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and monitor project progress.
- Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; contribute to research and innovation within IMEG.
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all engineering work; interpret and apply state and local design criteria to project needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills in the civil engineering field
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Ability to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
