About the role
- Lead design efforts for fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control systems for building projects
- Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with applicable codes and IMEG standards
- Perform site assessments and produce technical analyses and reports
- Partner with clients to gather requirements and maintain strong client relationships
- Conduct in-process design reviews and apply IMEG quality control processes to confirm accuracy and completeness
- Provide technical training/mentoring and assist with resolution of field issues
- Participate in project interviews and project presentations
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Fire Protection Engineering required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, or equivalent, required
- Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including principles of thermodynamics, fire dynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including fire dynamics simulation, hydraulic simulation, and intelligibility software
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
