About the role

  • Lead design efforts for electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Support project execution as part of a team; lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress and budget.
  • Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants.
  • Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; contribute to research and innovation.
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify potential safety risks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Identify potential project problems and seek guidance from the Project Manager.
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools
  • Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, Building Information Model software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
