About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide on-site customer product support for Illumina products in Tarrytown, New York
- Install, repair, and maintain Illumina platforms
- Troubleshoot complex customer-reported problems
- Monitor, schedule, and prioritize tasks to maximize instrument uptime and customer satisfaction
- Complete post-repair and post-installation validation runs
- Independently manage accounts and strengthen customer relationships
- Schedule and perform equipment upgrades and new installations
- Maintain current service and training manuals, Field Service Bulletins, and SOPs
- Facilitate remote connectivity to customer instrumentation
- Escalate repairs and serve as the primary point of contact for escalation activities
- Run reports on instrument failures and use data to proactively service instruments
- Lead regular site meetings and report metrics on instrument performance and downtime
- Identify site-efficiency improvements to reduce mean time between repairs and increase instrument uptime
- Maintain proper inventory levels of service parts and adjust them as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
- 2–6 years of relevant experience or direct experience servicing Illumina products
- Highly motivated with problem-solving ability
- Ability to operate independently and as a cooperative team member
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Biotechnology/biomedical industry knowledge or applicable military experience
- Basic knowledge of DNA sequencing and laboratory skills is a plus
- Technical knowledge of computer hardware, Windows OS, and networking
- Planning, scheduling, and prioritization skills
- Must be able to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Background check required after a conditional offer
