About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide on-site customer product support for Illumina products in Tarrytown, New York
  • Install, repair, and maintain Illumina platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex customer-reported problems
  • Monitor, schedule, and prioritize tasks to maximize instrument uptime and customer satisfaction
  • Complete post-repair and post-installation validation runs
  • Independently manage accounts and strengthen customer relationships
  • Schedule and perform equipment upgrades and new installations
  • Maintain current service and training manuals, Field Service Bulletins, and SOPs
  • Facilitate remote connectivity to customer instrumentation
  • Escalate repairs and serve as the primary point of contact for escalation activities
  • Run reports on instrument failures and use data to proactively service instruments
  • Lead regular site meetings and report metrics on instrument performance and downtime
  • Identify site-efficiency improvements to reduce mean time between repairs and increase instrument uptime
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of service parts and adjust them as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
  • 2–6 years of relevant experience or direct experience servicing Illumina products
  • Highly motivated with problem-solving ability
  • Ability to operate independently and as a cooperative team member
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Biotechnology/biomedical industry knowledge or applicable military experience
  • Basic knowledge of DNA sequencing and laboratory skills is a plus
  • Technical knowledge of computer hardware, Windows OS, and networking
  • Planning, scheduling, and prioritization skills
  • Must be able to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
  • Background check required after a conditional offer
