About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee academic, physical and extracurricular education through planning, implementing and instructing
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned independent-study parents/guardians and learners
Develop individualized learning plans with learners and guardians, aligned to standards and educational objectives
Meet face-to-face with parents and learners at least every 20 days to assess progress, provide support, review work, and adjust instruction
Conduct weekly learner check-ins and provide additional support
Provide synchronous instruction in accordance with state requirements
Track learner engagement, attendance, academic struggles, social/emotional concerns and records in program systems
Maintain a roster of 20–24 learners and collect monthly work samples
Maintain learner portfolios, activity logs, learning records and assessment documentation
Provide live virtual instruction twice weekly and weekly office hours
Evaluate work samples, develop course plans and lessons, and integrate assessments and rubrics
Award semester grades and progress reports
Respond to parent inquiries and concerns within one business day
Model teaching strategies and help parents navigate program policies, websites and computer systems
Collaborate with facilitators, coordinators, directors, enrollment, community providers and other iLEAD employees
Proctor state-mandated, MAP, EL, SPED and other assessments
Attend schoolwide, iLEAD High School, family, learner and staff meetings, professional development and trainings
Support enrollment, materials and services ordering, family paperwork, instructional funds and audit documentation
Attend and assist with field studies, park days, information meetings, webinars and conventions
Protect confidential records and maintain required teaching credentials
Perform additional duties assigned by school leaders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Single Subject Credential
ELL Authorization – CLAD required; BCLAD desirable
Technology proficiency and ability to learn online platforms, systems and software
Previous homeschool or independent study experience preferred
Accuracy and attention to detail
Professional demeanor, mature judgment and ability to handle confidential information
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, self-start, problem solve and multitask
Ability to build effective relationships with learners, families and staff
Understanding and support of varied learning styles, philosophies and approaches
Ability to align curriculum and activities with standards and apply authentic grading practices
Willingness to participate in teams and committees
Belief in the iLEAD California mission and ability to apply the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and Schoolwide Learning Outcomes
Ability to communicate professionally, analyze data, write using computer software and present publicly
Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds
Ability to travel by public transit and operate a vehicle between worksites when needed
Ability to make informed decisions in high-stress situations
