About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the internal credit committee, facilitating balanced, timely, and well-informed discussions.
  • Primarily responsible for structuring the credit review of $1B of originations over the next five years.
  • Own and maintain credit policy to ensure alignment with organizational strategy, risk appetite, and Board-level approvals.
  • Develop and refine Credit Memo templates, Underwriting standards and guidance, Evaluation and approval processes.
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and discipline across credit practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and transparency in credit workflows.
  • Serve as a decider within the RAPID framework for credit decisions.
  • Engage directly in complex, nuanced, or non-standard deals to support structuring and risk assessment.
  • Provide guidance to help teams navigate challenges and efficiently move viable deals forward.
  • Build and maintain relationships with borrowers, partners, and key stakeholders.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in business, accounting or finance.
  • Significant experience (10+ years) in credit, lending, or structured finance.
  • Direct originations experience or a strong demonstrated orientation toward structuring deals and “getting to yes”.
  • Strong client orientation with a relationship-driven approach.
  • Experience working through complex, ambiguous, or non-standard transactions.
  • Ability to perform financial statement analysis including spreading financial statements and assessing cash flow metrics preferred.
  • Successful track record of direct and indirect management and coaching.
  • Regular travel throughout the Midwest region; occasional early start or extended hours and evening or weekend work.
