About the role
- Lead or contribute to diverse projects including capital investments, production and process improvements, inter-site initiatives, and digital transformation projects while mentoring and training junior engineers.
- Act as a technology team lead, translating stakeholder requirements (business, operations, process, safety) into well-defined, actionable project scopes.
- Develop robust process, equipment, and automation solutions, including proactive troubleshooting and root cause analysis to support reliable operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase capacity, improve product quality, enhance safety, and reduce operating costs.
- Support execution of start-up and commissioning activities including FAT/SAT and qualification phases (IQ/OQ/PQ), and perform basic data analysis and RTO start-up tasks.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring clear and timely communication with internal stakeholders, business leaders, and global Manufacturing Technology teams.
- Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including HIRA, MOCs, and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
- Contribute to long-term site master planning and global strategy as a member of the Health & Biosciences Manufacturing Technology community.
- Translate global objectives into site-level initiatives and, over time, lead a team of engineers across multiple sites in France.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or Engineering degree in Biotechnological Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in process design and execution of capital projects or continuous improvement initiatives within an industrial process environment.
- Demonstrated leadership or project management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong technical expertise in industrial biotechnology processes, including fermentation, downstream processing, and formulation (liquid and solid).
- Deep knowledge of unit operations such as fermentation (media preparation, process control parameters), separation (centrifugation, membrane filtration), and stabilization (cryopreservation, lyophilization).
- Solid understanding of equipment and integration—pumps, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, and piping—and their roles within production units.
- Familiarity with process control and automation in batch process environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking, including budgeting, project justification, and the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
