About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Business Development in winning new business for ICON
  • Manage a team of Proposal Development Associates
  • Deliver high-quality client-focused proposals, budgets, and client grids for new business opportunities
  • Evaluate client requirements for incoming RFPs and assign them to appropriate Proposal Development Associates
  • Manage and oversee proposal and budget preparation, review, and submission
  • Lead Proposal Development Associates throughout the proposal generation process and attend relevant meetings
  • Coordinate involvement of Senior Management, Operations, and Sales throughout proposal and budget preparation
  • Oversee accurate preparation of budgets and contract specifications
  • Meet proposal submission timelines and adhere to Business Development SOPs and Working Procedures
  • Attend bid defenses and other client meetings in a support role
  • Keep Senior Management apprised of proposal status and escalate issues or concerns
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for Proposal Development Associates
  • Develop training plans and assist with training and educational materials
  • Provide backup to the Associate Director, Proposals
  • Contribute to SOPs, Working Procedures, and Business Development job descriptions
  • Develop processes and tools to improve proposal and contract accuracy and quality
  • Support departmental process improvements and participate in special projects
  • Comply with ICON administrative, training, and human resources policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience managing Proposal Development Associates and proposal-generation processes
  • Ability to prepare high-quality client-focused proposals, budgets, and client grids
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret client requirements in Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Knowledge of clinical-trial proposals, budgets, and contract specifications
  • Ability to manage proposal timelines and adhere to Business Development SOPs and Working Procedures
  • Ability to coordinate Senior Management, Operations, and Sales involvement
  • Experience recruiting, training, mentoring, and evaluating team members
  • Ability to develop training plans and educational materials
  • Ability to contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Working Procedures, job descriptions, processes, and tools
  • Compliance with ICON administrative, training, and human resources policies
  • Legal right to work in the country where the role is based
