About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership for the acid-area manufacturing team
- Ensure effective cost management, safe workplace practices, environmental and health responsibilities, and the right to operate
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including OSHA, EPA, and FDA requirements
- Foster a positive safety culture and participate in Lawrence Plant safety programs and committees
- Ensure environmentally responsible operations and contractor/guest safety
- Maintain and improve Lawrence Quality System Procedures
- Comply with GFSI and FDA Food Safety Modernization Act requirements
- Promote employee growth, development, diversity, teamwork, and participation
- Establish employee goals, provide recognition, feedback, and coaching, and resolve conflicts
- Recruit employees, conduct salary planning, and communicate job expectations
- Meet production commitments and serve as acid-area production planner
- Maintain plant asset effectiveness and protect people, property, and products
- Facilitate plant improvements and implement long-range plans
- Manage plant product portfolio changes and optimize site utility services
- Serve as backup railroad coordinator and bulk acid shipping coordinator
- Oversee ISO container fleet management
- Order raw materials for the Acid business
- Manage acid plant scheduling and timekeeping
- Establish budgets, manage fixed-cost targets, review monthly costs, and communicate variances
- Pursue cost improvement opportunities and contingency planning
- Ensure compliance with corporate objectives and communicate plant capabilities
- Communicate with onsite customers about production plans for P4 transfer
- Respond to customer needs and participate in customer visits and audits
- Evaluate and implement feasible new product and process opportunities
- Interface with MTS and sales
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline, Chemical Engineering preferred, or high school diploma/GED with relevant manufacturing experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience required
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, including plant operations
- Management and leadership skills
- Analytical and decision-making skills
- Interpersonal and labor relations skills
- Interfacing skills at all levels and with external contacts and customers
- Must be able to safely and quickly exit the plant in an emergency
- Must wear task- and environment-appropriate PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face masks, and potentially hazmat suits with respirators
- Must be SCBA trained and clean shaven
- Ability to regularly move and/or lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
