About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Accountable for all aspects of sales; maintenance and growth of existing business and generation of new business.
- Negotiation of sales contracts and dispute settlement.
- Assist with collections as needed.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for key customers, OEMs, compounders, and distributors to drive long-term partnerships, specification positions, and sustainable growth in the area of Flame retardant plastics and related markets
- Management of dedicated 3rd party agents and distributors and where appropriate select and appoint new agents and distributors
- Responsible for direct customer technical service, technical support and education and training of all third-party agents and distributors.
- Respond to new opportunities, organize product samples and trials and follow up on sampling to customers.
- Own regional sales revenue, profitability, pricing strategy, volume growth, and margin performance against annual operating plan targets.
- Identify, prioritize, and develop new business opportunities, applications, and end markets.
- Lead commercial introduction of new products and technologies with emphasis on differentiated, value-added solutions.
- Stimulate, encourage and guide potential customers to converting to our new/existing products, requiring a thorough understanding of the products and potential end-market technologies.
- Collaborate with global product management, marketing, R&D, technical service, regulatory affairs, and operations to align commercial strategies with market requirements and growth objectives.
- Record all significant customer interactions in the CRM system, including detailed call reports.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing in the CRM system and manage list pricing for smaller customers.
- Collect and document market intelligence and competitive analysis in CRM.
- Preparation of market analysis reports/surveys, budgets and sales forecasts; tracking competitive actions in the market.
- Support of product stewardship and advocacy actions in sales area.
- Represent the company within industry associations, standards organizations, and technical forums (ASTM, UL, NFPA, etc.) to influence industry trends, monitor regulatory developments, and support market advocacy efforts.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field required; equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
- 5 + years industrial experience in a technical marketing/sales role within the chemical industry required; ideally operating within plastic compounding or related polymer fields.
- Experience in polymer additives, engineered plastics, plastic compounding, or related performance chemicals is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of flame-retardant technologies, fire safety standards, regulatory requirements, and polymer applications across key end markets is highly desirable.
- Experience selling into wire & cable, electrical/electronics, transportation, construction, or industrial polymer markets.
- High degree of self-motivation and self-confidence.
- Able to prioritize schedule.
- Thorough knowledge of the company’s markets, products, and production processes, with an in-depth knowledge of industry and the customer base.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels, both internally and externally.
- With the international dimension there is a need to understand and grasp different cultures and business practices. This requires good flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, especially in the areas of negotiation techniques and dispute resolution.
