About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research, write, edit, and update health-related content for web and print formats
- Translate complex medical and scientific information into plain language
- Develop and edit fact sheets and educational materials based on scientific evidence
- Ensure alignment with federal plain language and accessibility guidelines
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders
- Perform quality control reviews for accuracy and consistency
- Support web content updates using content management systems (CMS)
- Apply web-writing best practices including SEO and scannability
- Support recurring content review cycles
- Develop meeting summaries and synthesis documents as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience writing and editing medical or scientific content
- Experience writing for public and/or professional audiences
- Strong understanding of plain language and health literacy principles
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Ability to synthesize complex scientific material
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
