Work under supervision of cultural resources team leads and support architectural survey and reporting for Section 106 compliance in Georgia and Southeast United States
Conduct historical research in local, state, and regional libraries and archives
Contribute to historic resources surveys and assessments, including site inspections, research, photography, and evaluation under state and national criteria for historical significance
Prepare historic property inventory forms (including statements of significance and architectural descriptions)
Assist with preparation of NEPA and Section 106 regulatory documents
Assist with preparation of architectural history survey reports, including GDOT survey and evaluation documents
Collaborate with archaeologists, architectural historians, planners, and cultural landscape specialists toward an integrated multi-disciplinary approach to cultural resources investigations
May be scheduled as an On-Call employee with variable work hours; free to accept or refuse assigned hours
Requirements
Master’s degree in related field
1+ years of professional experience
Valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
Knowledge of the history and architectural history of Georgia and/or other southeastern states (preferred)
Familiarity with GDOT architectural history practice and documents (preferred)
Experience with research on the Georgia’s Natural, Archaeological, and Historic Resourcesic Information System (GNAHRGIS) (preferred)
Prior experience with NHPA Section 106 (preferred)
Demonstrable research and technical writing abilities
Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Project)
Familiarity with ESRI Field Maps
