About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review, investigate, resolve, and negotiate performance bond defaults, payment bond claims, subdivision, and commercial bond claims
- Interact with attorneys for claimants and owners, as well as field management staff, to resolve complex claims issues and ensure cost-effective solutions
- Draft and negotiate Surety Takeover and/or Completion Agreements, correspondence, reports, and Exposure Analyses
- Collaborate closely with underwriters in assigned regions
- Review and analyze work-in-progress schedules, costs to complete, and accounts payable and receivable ledgers
- Supervise outside counsel and consultants’ bills before submitting for approval
- Recommend reserves
- Manage litigation and salvage recovery actions
- Analyze payment bond claims and make recommendations regarding payment
- Select, develop, motivate, and train staff to achieve objectives
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance
- Perform other job-related duties as required
- Report to the VP, Claims Counsel and work closely with the SVP, Chief Legal Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD with 7+ years of relevant Surety Claims and/or Construction Law experience
- Licensed insurance adjuster or ability to obtain insurance adjuster license as needed in assigned regions or license with reciprocity to assigned regions
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes
- Supervisory experience preferred
