About the role

  • Technical Specialist for assembly areas in the General Assembly department of an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Preparation of process documents, equipment install/modification before new vehicle launch
  • Monitoring and analyzing current production process, and making improvements in 4M during non-launching time period
  • Develop production processes and other production related systems to improve efficiency and quality of production
  • Develop principle work standards and line balancing to improve efficiency and quality of production
  • Execute LEAN manufacturing techniques and designs to improve efficiency and quality of production
  • Conduct motion and time studies (MODAPS – Modular Arrangement of Predetermined Time Standard) to identify areas for improvement in production processes
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement including Utilization, Quality, Safety, and Cost
  • Develop and implement cost reduction strategies and provide ROI justification for change using knowledge of assembly methods
  • Collaborate with other engineers and departments to develop and implement process improvements
  • Develop training materials on LEAN Manufacturing concepts and philosophy
  • Prepare training materials for Team Members on new/improved processes and procedures
  • Perform production Team Member training on new/improved processes and procedures
  • Ensure newly implemented processes and procedures are compliant with safety and environmental regulations
  • Conduct delay studies to determine root causes of downtime using statistical methods to identify areas of improvement
  • Analyze and plan layout requirements and workflow designs for new equipment and workspaces for maximum efficiency
  • Using CAD software model line layouts and identify storage and material handling improvements
  • Work with safety teams to identify ergonomic and safety issues, including methods to reduce ergonomic risk factors
  • Use of PFMEA for process set up and restraints
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • 0 – 10 years job related experience in an engineering/ industrial environment preferred
  • Experience in automotive assembly process as an Industrial Engineer desired
  • Skills / Knowledge: MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • SAP preferred
  • CATIA or similar CAD program
  • Production allocation simulation program and any other statistics software
