About the role
- Lead validation activities for engine management and OBD systems using pre-production vehicles operating in long term fleet testing
- Set up instrumentation and monitor fleet vehicles to ensure accurate data acquisition and reliable test execution
- Analyze second by second vehicle data from data loggers to detect early indicators of component degradation, system malfunctions or calibration weaknesses
- Perform advanced data analysis using MATLAB, Python or similar tools to extract trends, insights and actionable recommendations
- Conduct emissions testing at defined mileage intervals to verify aftertreatment durability and regulatory compliance
- Support fleet operation activities including calibration updates, software flashing and diagnostic evaluation
- Investigate high occurrence warranty issues using data analysis, cross-functional collaboration and root cause evaluation
- Prepare and present clear technical summaries and status updates for engineering leadership and cross-functional partners
- Manage administrative elements of fleet testing including budget tracking, vehicle usage, planning test requests and milestone documentation
- Evaluate new technologies that support compliance with evolving emissions regulations in an efficient manner
- Plan coordinate and track project activities to ensure timely and high-quality execution
Requirements
- Proven capability in vehicle testing, calibration methodologies and data analysis
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and convert them into structured test plans
- Knowledge of calibration development processes and associated toolchains
- Experience diagnosing electrical, mechanical, software and system level issues
- Familiarity with automotive communication networks such as CAN, LIN and Ethernet
- Ability to specify configure and operate instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Working understanding of emissions and OBD regulations established by EPA and CARB
- Strong foundation in engine controls combustion and exhaust aftertreatment systems
- Commitment to professional integrity sound judgment and responsible handling of sensitive information
- B.S. required; M. S. preferred in mechanical engineering electrical engineering or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in powertrain calibration, emissions development, OBD-II calibration or system validation
- Knowledge of propulsion system fundamentals including hybrid powertrain operation
- Experience with emissions testing, OBD monitor development or vehicle test procedures
- Working knowledge of communication protocols and calibration tools such as ETAS INCA and MDA
- Familiarity with emissions and OBD regulatory frameworks
