About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Largely independent preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB
- Responsibility for ongoing financial accounting, account reconciliations and closing entries
- Preparation of VAT returns and other tax filings
- Preparation of reliable financial data for reporting, forecasts and management analyses
- Support with accounting, finance and controlling-related queries
- Participation in budgeting, liquidity planning, actual-vs.-plan comparisons and variance analyses
- Support with accounts receivable, project billing, payments and receivables management
- Collaboration with tax advisors, auditors, banks and authorities
- Development and automation of accounting, reporting and controlling processes
- Operational involvement in bookkeeping and the ERP system
- Understand systems, data flows and interfaces, identify improvement opportunities and define business requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed commercial training with further qualification as a Bilanzbuchhalter (certified balance sheet accountant) or an equivalent professional qualification
- Several years of practical experience in finance and accounting
- Very good knowledge of accounting under HGB and experience in largely independent preparation of financial statements
- Solid understanding of controlling, reporting, forecasts and key financial metrics
- Willingness to take on professional responsibility while also working operationally in accounting
- Confident user of ERP and accounting systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of data, systems, interfaces and digital finance processes
- Structured, careful and independent working style with a high degree of reliability
- Analytical thinking and ability to present complex issues clearly
- Enjoys questioning, improving and sensibly automating existing processes
- Interest in modern digital tools and the use of AI in day-to-day finance work
- Clear communication and reliable collaboration in a fully remote team
- Very good German skills and good English skills for an international environment
