About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare and review monthly management accounts
- Analyse Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and cash flow information
- Prepare variance analysis and identify trends, anomalies, data gaps and issues requiring investigation
- Review accounting files and recommend cleanup, process improvements and reporting corrections
- Build driver-based annual budgets, rolling forecasts, reforecasts and cash-flow forecasts
- Analyse cash-flow pressure and identify working-capital improvement opportunities
- Develop financial scenarios and explain budget and forecast assumptions and business drivers
- Undertake commercial modelling and analyse job, project, product, customer and service-line profitability
- Analyse margins, labour costs, productivity, pricing, capacity and working capital
- Develop models supporting commercial decisions and translate analysis into practical recommendations
- Develop and maintain management reports and dashboards using platforms such as Fathom, Syft Analytics or Translucent.io
- Determine relevant KPIs and prepare written CFO commentary
- Identify issues, opportunities and recommended actions from financial results
- Investigate commercial issues, develop recommendations, obtain review, communicate findings and document processes
- Delegate preparation and investigation work, review delegated work and develop junior team capability
- Help bookkeeping staff and clients understand the commercial purpose of finance work
- Participate in client meetings, progressively present analysis, recommend actions, facilitate discussions and independently lead management and CFO meetings
- Use AI for research, analysis, documentation and workflow improvement
- Identify automation opportunities and develop reusable prompts, templates and workflows
- Contribute to AI-assisted CFO methodologies, training materials and productised CFO processes
- Recognise Australian tax consequences, incorporate tax considerations into commercial recommendations and escalate matters requiring specialist advice
- Work collaboratively with bookkeeping teams, external accountants, tax advisers and the CFO team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Philippines-based candidate
- 5+ years of relevant accounting, management accounting or commercial finance experience
- Practical experience with Australian accounting, taxation and SME environments
- Strong management accounting capability, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow analysis
- Strong understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow, profitability, margins and working capital
- Ability to investigate financial information, identify accounting and data-quality issues, and improve management reporting
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong accounting software experience, preferably Xero
- Practical understanding of GST, BAS, PAYG withholding, payroll and superannuation
- Sound commercial judgement and ability to recognise tax implications and escalate matters appropriately
- Ability to work collaboratively with external accountants and advisers
- Excellent written and spoken English, with ability to explain financial concepts to non-accountants
- Strong problem-solving, initiative, ownership and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, collaborate remotely and delegate effectively
- Ability to align with Australian business hours, approximately 9 AM–5 PM Monday to Friday
- Disclosure of any existing ongoing roles or client work

- Nice-to-have: CPA, CA or equivalent qualification
