About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform software engineering activities across cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices, GraphQL services, databases, and modern web and mobile experiences
- Provide technical leadership for the Member Experience Portal
- Deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing digital solutions
- Drive Engineering Excellence and Operational Excellence across Agile Scrum teams
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers across Agile teams
- Foster accountability, ownership, continuous learning, and technical excellence
- Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, technical design sessions, and career development discussions
- Align teams and stakeholders on reusable business capabilities and shared engineering objectives
- Champion micro frontends, API-first development, GraphQL and REST services, test automation, CI/CD, observability, performance engineering, and platform reusability
- Establish standards for code quality, reliability, maintainability, and scalability
- Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity, code generation, documentation, testing, and delivery efficiency
- Champion security-first and compliance-by-design development practices
- Embed threat modeling, secure coding, vulnerability scanning, security automation, OWASP controls, identity management, compliance validation, and governance controls
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, UX teams, architects, and business stakeholders
- Deliver personalized and seamless member experiences
- Apply understanding of Member Experience Portal architecture, customer journeys, and enterprise integrations
- Report to the Associate Director of Software Engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree
- 8 or more years of experience in software development
- Tech-lead-level proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or TypeScript
- Experience building backend technology with .NET, Java, Spring/Spring Boot, or NodeJS
- Experience with JSON, RESTful web services, and client-server interactions
- Experience with highly scalable websites and web services using Vue.js, Angular, React, or similar technologies
- Knowledge of and experience with Azure or an equivalent provider
- Experience with environment management/orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, Docker, or AKS
- Candidates should reside or be within 50 miles of Dallas TX, Chicago Metro, DC Metro, or Louisville area
- Minimum home internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload
- Ability to work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information
- React-Native, mobile app experience, AI/Agentic AI, and code generation tools such as Claude and Copilot are preferred
