About the role
- Lead the design of products that help organizations run more effectively, including video analysis, team management tools, and recruiting opportunities.
- Shape, conduct and translate user research to help the team understand needs beyond what users say they want; dig into the “why” behind user feedback and create actionable insights.
- Manage and professionally develop a small team of exceptional designers; mentor designers on both soft and hard skills and help them achieve career goals.
- Craft and communicate compelling visual and verbal concepts that are forward-facing, differentiated, and relevant to customer and business needs.
- Add clarity to ambiguous problem spaces by teasing out user characteristics, environments and market expectations to support prioritized and intuitive experiences.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Design, Scrum and Quality to define requirements and deliver clear and focused digital user experiences.
- Advocate for tactility, accessibility, customer needs and design excellence; shepherd projects to release and measure and own the results of those solutions.
Requirements
- Strong communicator: excellent presentation skills; able to sell ideas and give/receive feedback.
- Management track record: you’ve led at least one designer as a direct report; mentorship experience (formal or informal) considered.
- Iterative prototyping skills: proficient at using low and high fidelity prototyping tools and wireframing techniques, including modern AI-powered prototyping platforms.
- A problem-solver: ability to think critically and holistically about user interactions and solve complex design challenges within technical, business and design constraints.
- Organizational skills: assess the appropriate level of design and research necessary to achieve goals with a plan to reach final deliverables.
- Technical proficiency: experience with modern component-based design software (e.g., Figma and Adobe Creative suite) and tools like Miro.
- A robust portfolio: showcase a variety of projects that demonstrate expertise in UX design, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes and final design solutions.
- Research and insights experience (nice-to-have): planned and conducted qualitative and quantitative user research and translated insights into product outcomes.
- Sports enthusiast (nice-to-have): understanding of sports technology industry challenges and opportunities.
- Growth mindset (nice-to-have): committed to staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies and design best practices.
- Location preference: would like someone who lives near Hudl offices in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska; open to remote candidates in Kansas City, Chicago, Austin, Dallas or Phoenix.
