About the role

  • Manage the full development lifecycle for woven styles/programs, including fabric sourcing, costing, vendor communication, sampling, approvals, testing, bulk readiness, and issue resolution
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships across a mixed network of international and domestic factories/mills, driving development, costing, capacity alignment, and quality standards
  • Lead vendor communication with clear briefs, timelines, follow-ups, risk flags, and escalation when needed
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment with Design, Production, Tech, Planning, and Buying to drive decisions and keep calendars on track, while protecting design intent and anticipating downstream impacts (quality, margin, delivery, allocation)
  • Identify risks early and propose solutions and contingency plans so the team isn’t reacting late
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to hit margin, quality, and delivery targets, and support vendor strategy decisions alongside the Product Development Manager
  • Improve process and communication standards by modeling clear tracking, strong calendar acumen, and effective managing up
  • Mentor and guide a junior developer, help elevate team processes, and prepare to step into people management within 6–12 months as the team scales

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years in apparel product development with significant woven category responsibility
  • Experience managing domestic and overseas vendors through development, sampling, bulk production, and issue resolution
  • Technical foundation in woven fabrics and construction, with working knowledge of testing, tolerances, finishes, and manufacturability
  • Strong problem-solving mindset; stays effective through vendor resistance and shifting priorities
  • Highly effective at managing up—clearly articulates changes, implications, needed decisions, and timing; provides recommendations
  • Collaborative cross-functional operator; able to work through differing opinions and high expectations
  • Proficient in Google Suite and PLM systems; able to maintain accurate product data, track development milestones, and support reporting/analysis
