About the role
- Design, start-up, and implement automated systems and automation framework settings for new and existing equipment.
- Review, develop, and troubleshoot automation scripts in Python, C#, or JavaScript.
- Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods by applying engineering and LEAN principles in fixture design, problem solving, and material selection.
- Analyzing and planning work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and product flow.
- Applying Lean Manufacturing methods.
- Conferring with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to create roadmaps that ensure efficient automation projects.
- Studying specifications, engineering blueprints and shop data and conferring with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems.
- Preparing tool and fixture concepts, coordinating review and approval by manufacturing staff and developing detailed CAD drawings.
- Conferring with vendors to determine product specifications and arranging for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Conferring with management, engineering, operations and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Troubleshooting equipment in downtime situations and work with maintenance to service, support, and upgrade equipment.
- Lead deployment of new automation systems.
- Create, maintain, and train others on technical documentation and provide support.
- Working with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations/production, IT, etc.) to gather requirements and align on goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (General, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical), or related field (required)
- 3-6 years of relevant experience (required)
- Experience with PLC Programming, Automation Frameworks (e.g., Selenium/Appium), robotics, vision systems, and AI / machine learning.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience with automated manufacturing processes as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems/controls
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to lift and secure machine parts into position, as needed.
- Fit/assemble parts together as required.
- Coding proficiency in languages like Python, C#, or JavaScript, and configure control systems (PLCs, SCADA).
