About the role
- Design, develop, and advance medium- and high-voltage electrical connectors for the Electric Utility industry
- Support the development of fiber telecom connectivity products as needed
- Participate in product development projects including concept development, mechanical and electrical design, prototyping, and testing
- Lead requirements definition, project reviews, and design verification/validation efforts
- Ensure compliance with industry standards through proper documentation and certification support
- Develop and validate 3D models, engineering drawings, and simulations
- Coordinate and perform design experiments, including mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing
- Support root-cause investigations and product enhancements for existing connector portfolios
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering disciplines with demonstrated industry design experience
- 10+ years of product design experience in medium/high voltage connectors or related industrial/mechanical components
- Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical behavior, materials, and mechanical design
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and simulation tools (AutoDesk Inventor & SolidWorks)
- Experience with design verification/validation testing and lab test equipment
- Understanding of industry standards (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, Telcordia)
- Experience with DFMEA, design-to-value, and structured product development processes
