About the role
- Leading mechanical design for new products and make improvements to existing products to ensure ACME maintains a strong cost position.
- Developing concepts for new and revised products maximizing function, safety, features and user benefits while minimizing costs.
- Interfacing directly with manufacturing team to resolve production issues.
- Creating Bills of Material and Routings for products within SAP.
- Participating in meetings as required to communicate and coordinate project among various internal departments.
- Creating development and production drawings in SolidWorks.
- Preparing product standards and specifications and obtaining agency listings as required (UL, etc.).
- Updating Engineering documentation.
- 10% Travel
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- 8 years of experience in related industry (required)
- Knowledge of production techniques, engineering materials, drafting and documentation procedures.
- Good knowledge of various standard agencies like UL, etc. related to electrical products.
- Must be self-motivated with a proven track record of application of mechanical design concepts.
- Must be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base with unique Engineered to Order (ETO) products.
- Proficient with SolidWorks or equivalent software.
- Fluent with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Able to generate / read / interpret electrical schematics.
- Additional Desired Skills:
- Experience with the mechanical design and manufacturing of sheet metal enclosures and steel structures
- Experience in designing products to meet seismic requirements
- Experience with advanced design methods including Finite Element Analysis
- Experience in automating Engineering processes
- Knowledge of Thermodynamic principles.
- Familiarity with REACH, RoHS, and Prop65 regulations.
