About the role

  • Leading mechanical design for new products and make improvements to existing products to ensure ACME maintains a strong cost position.
  • Developing concepts for new and revised products maximizing function, safety, features and user benefits while minimizing costs.
  • Interfacing directly with manufacturing team to resolve production issues.
  • Creating Bills of Material and Routings for products within SAP.
  • Participating in meetings as required to communicate and coordinate project among various internal departments.
  • Creating development and production drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Preparing product standards and specifications and obtaining agency listings as required (UL, etc.).
  • Updating Engineering documentation.
  • 10% Travel

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
  • Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • 8 years of experience in related industry (required)
  • Knowledge of production techniques, engineering materials, drafting and documentation procedures.
  • Good knowledge of various standard agencies like UL, etc. related to electrical products.
  • Must be self-motivated with a proven track record of application of mechanical design concepts.
  • Must be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base with unique Engineered to Order (ETO) products.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks or equivalent software.
  • Fluent with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Able to generate / read / interpret electrical schematics.
  • Additional Desired Skills:
  • Experience with the mechanical design and manufacturing of sheet metal enclosures and steel structures
  • Experience in designing products to meet seismic requirements
  • Experience with advanced design methods including Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience in automating Engineering processes
  • Knowledge of Thermodynamic principles.
  • Familiarity with REACH, RoHS, and Prop65 regulations.
