About the role

  • Reports to the VP of Technology for Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure
  • Execute key simulation work for high visibility development and investigation
  • Lead other shared and business unit teams on our simulation strategy
  • Execution of critical simulation tasks in support of new product development, significant product redesigns, engineered order products and root cause investigations
  • Identify and execute simulation automation projects for high frequency simulations, predominantly for engineered to order products
  • Develop and implement a simulation tool and process strategy for the Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure Strategic Business Unit
  • Organize organizational training and education for engineers
  • Develop and maintain the simulation maturity matrix in support of the strategy
  • Participate in key industry events such as IEEE, CIGRE, NAFEMS, ASME to drive best practice knowledge within the organization
  • Lead the report out on industry events to the broader engineering teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering and/or medium and high voltage engineering
  • 10 years of experience in design and new product development in a manufacturing environment within the electric utility space
  • Strong familiarity and execution within Ansys, Comsol, Altair, or other equivalent simulation and modeling tools
  • Ability to travel on business related trips – up to 15% of the time
  • Ability to walk around the manufacturing shop floor and lift 50 pounds as needed (part inspection, part fit check, product testing, etc.)
