About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work in a clinic setting
- Prepare patient charts and collect patient history
- Enter physician orders by protocol and prepare orders for signature
- Perform aseptic procedures, take vital signs, prepare patients for physician care, perform venipunctures and nonintravenous injections, and observe and report patient signs or symptoms
- Assist with patient examinations and treatments
- Fit braces and perform casting and splinting
- Provide gait training, DME training, and exercise training
- Create individualized exercise and rehabilitation programs
- Coordinate patient appointments and ancillary tests
- Assist with testing, physical therapy and physician referrals, medication prescriptions, and follow-up visits
- Document patient interactions in the electronic health record
- Liaise between physicians, clinical support, and administrative staff to promote effective patient care
- Serve as medical scribe to the physician
- Serve as medical staff at athletic and community events under MD supervision, including injury prevention, injury treatment, first aid, and emergent care
- Conduct sports physicals
- Perform healthcare screenings and community education
- Support clinic efficiency through administrative tasks such as making appointments, scanning records, coordinating outside-provider care, and obtaining prior authorizations
- Assist with developing procedures and protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program
- Current Florida Athletic Trainer License
- Current BOC Certification
- Current BLS/CPR & AED Certification
- Successful completion of Florida-required fingerprinting and background screening
- Experience in orthopedic or sports medicine practice preferred
- EMR/Epic experience preferred
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred
