About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in a clinic setting
  • Prepare patient charts and collect patient history
  • Enter physician orders by protocol and prepare orders for signature
  • Perform aseptic procedures, take vital signs, prepare patients for physician care, perform venipunctures and nonintravenous injections, and observe and report patient signs or symptoms
  • Assist with patient examinations and treatments
  • Fit braces and perform casting and splinting
  • Provide gait training, DME training, and exercise training
  • Create individualized exercise and rehabilitation programs
  • Coordinate patient appointments and ancillary tests
  • Assist with testing, physical therapy and physician referrals, medication prescriptions, and follow-up visits
  • Document patient interactions in the electronic health record
  • Liaise between physicians, clinical support, and administrative staff to promote effective patient care
  • Serve as medical scribe to the physician
  • Serve as medical staff at athletic and community events under MD supervision, including injury prevention, injury treatment, first aid, and emergent care
  • Conduct sports physicals
  • Perform healthcare screenings and community education
  • Support clinic efficiency through administrative tasks such as making appointments, scanning records, coordinating outside-provider care, and obtaining prior authorizations
  • Assist with developing procedures and protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program
  • Current Florida Athletic Trainer License
  • Current BOC Certification
  • Current BLS/CPR & AED Certification
  • Successful completion of Florida-required fingerprinting and background screening
  • Experience in orthopedic or sports medicine practice preferred
  • EMR/Epic experience preferred
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred
