About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- See patients at an HSS location to triage, diagnose, treat, and when needed, refer patients to a higher level of care in an expedited timeframe
- Triages patients 12 years and older with an undiagnosed musculoskeletal injury or sudden onset of pain
- Responsible for diagnosing and treating acute musculoskeletal injuries including, but not limited to: Bone, joint, or muscle injuries
- Strains, sprains, minor dislocations, and closed fractures
- Painful, swollen, or injured joints
- Back and neck pain
- Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Pediatric injuries (12 years of age and older)
- Sports Injuries
- Steroid injections and joint aspirations
- General bracing and splinting
- Post-operative care as needed (THR/TKR)
Requirements
What you’ll need- Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree Physician Assistant Studies
- Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program
- Nurse Practitioner: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Active license in New York
- Current NCCPA certification
- Current Infection Control Certificate
- Completion of child abuse recognition course
- ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- DEA license
- Board certification in relevant specialty area from an agency accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Critical thinking, in-depth experience, professional knowledge in area of specialty; updated on the latest new, trends, and treatments
- Time management/organization: handles and effectively manages a daily caseload; experience with varied work schedule (flexibility); adaptable
- Collaboration and teamwork: collaborate with clinical colleagues (MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs) for advisement when necessary; develop and coordinate appropriate plan of care
