About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • See patients at an HSS location to triage, diagnose, treat, and when needed, refer patients to a higher level of care in an expedited timeframe
  • Triages patients 12 years and older with an undiagnosed musculoskeletal injury or sudden onset of pain
  • Responsible for diagnosing and treating acute musculoskeletal injuries including, but not limited to: Bone, joint, or muscle injuries
  • Strains, sprains, minor dislocations, and closed fractures
  • Painful, swollen, or injured joints
  • Back and neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis (OA)
  • Pediatric injuries (12 years of age and older)
  • Sports Injuries
  • Steroid injections and joint aspirations
  • General bracing and splinting
  • Post-operative care as needed (THR/TKR)

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree Physician Assistant Studies
  • Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program
  • Nurse Practitioner: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Active license in New York
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current Infection Control Certificate
  • Completion of child abuse recognition course
  • ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • DEA license
  • Board certification in relevant specialty area from an agency accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Critical thinking, in-depth experience, professional knowledge in area of specialty; updated on the latest new, trends, and treatments
  • Time management/organization: handles and effectively manages a daily caseload; experience with varied work schedule (flexibility); adaptable
  • Collaboration and teamwork: collaborate with clinical colleagues (MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs) for advisement when necessary; develop and coordinate appropriate plan of care
