About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

See patients at an HSS location to triage, diagnose, treat, and when needed, refer patients to a higher level of care in an expedited timeframe
Triages patients 12 years and older with an undiagnosed musculoskeletal injury or sudden onset of pain
Responsible for diagnosing and treating acute musculoskeletal injuries including, but not limited to: Bone, joint, or muscle injuries
Strains, sprains, minor dislocations, and closed fractures
Painful, swollen, or injured joints
Back and neck pain
Osteoarthritis (OA)
Pediatric injuries (12 years of age and older)
Sports Injuries
Steroid injections and joint aspirations
General bracing and splinting
Post-operative care as needed (THR/TKR)

Requirements

What you’ll need

Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree Physician Assistant Studies
Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program
Nurse Practitioner: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Master’s degree in Nursing
Active license in New York
Current NCCPA certification
Current Infection Control Certificate
Completion of child abuse recognition course
ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association
DEA license
Board certification in relevant specialty area from an agency accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service orientation
Critical thinking, in-depth experience, professional knowledge in area of specialty; updated on the latest new, trends, and treatments
Time management/organization: handles and effectively manages a daily caseload; experience with varied work schedule (flexibility); adaptable
Collaboration and teamwork: collaborate with clinical colleagues (MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs) for advisement when necessary; develop and coordinate appropriate plan of care
