About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead client discovery sessions to gather detailed payroll requirements, facilitating workshops from end-user to C-level stakeholders.
- Design and configure PeopleXD Payroll modules, translating business rules into system settings including pay calendars, approval workflows, and internal controls.
- Produce high-quality functional specifications and configuration documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver implementations in line with Access Implementation Methodology (AIM), managing workstreams proactively to maintain time and budget.
- Support data migration activities including preparation and validation of migration templates to ensure data integrity.
- Configure reporting tools to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency for clients.
- Support integrations with third-party finance systems and external applications, with exposure to SFTP and API-based connectivity.
- Plan and execute System Integration Testing (SIT) and provide structured UAT support, including end-to-end payroll parallel runs.
- Lead payroll parallel run validation, identifying and resolving discrepancies to ensure payroll accuracy before cutover.
- Manage cutover activities, go-live execution, and post-launch hypercare, ensuring a stable and confident transition for each client.
- Deliver training to HR, Payroll, and operational teams, ensuring high system adoption and client self-sufficiency post go-live.
- Identify optimisation opportunities and support clients through quarterly PeopleXD platform releases.
- Proactively recognise additional sales and upgrade opportunities, liaising with account managers to ensure client needs are met.
- Support the transition to post-go-live managed services, contributing to long-term client relationships.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–3 years of payroll experience, whether in-house processing, payroll administration, or a junior implementation or support role.
- Working knowledge of UK and/or Irish payroll legislation, including PAYE, statutory payments, and payroll controls.
- A methodical, detail-oriented approach — someone who takes accuracy seriously and follows issues through to resolution.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain payroll concepts clearly to people who aren’t payroll specialists.
- Comfortable working with data and confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Any experience with PeopleXD, CoreHR, or another SaaS payroll platform — even as a super-user or system administrator.
- Involvement in a system implementation, UAT, or parallel run, even in a supporting capacity.
- Exposure to payroll reconciliation, GL mapping, or reporting.
- Irish payroll experience.
- SQL or report-writing skills.
